Wow, Just found this site, and just wanted to say hi to everyone, I'm sure a million and one questions will follow :p It's like an old sweet shop for me, keep giggling at all the treasures I spot on here from the old days!!! lol.

I used to tool around (in the early 90's) on an Alpinestars Cro-mega DX (proper old-school hard tail, none of that fancy frame stuff with the chainstays over the bottom bracket). Would dearly love to own it again, keeping my eyes peeled on ebay everyday, you never know!!!!

I've got loads of old 'film' photos of it, and me on it, which I'll upload in due course.

Cheers
Steve

Welcome Steve and enjoy retrobike :D

Cheers for the warm welcome.

1st pic (pearl white and luminous yellow) was my old steed.

Absolutely fantastic mtb, even with the straight, rigid forks !!

Not that mine looked much like that after too long, I was permanently 'bodging it'. lol.

A nice ride, looking forward to seeing some pictures of your old bike.

So whats your plans Steve, have you a build in mind?

If I can find the 'right' frame/fork combo (or even complete bike??) then i'd definitely be up for doing a complete rebuild (god only know's how easy some of the original parts are going to be, to find).

I guess that original decals are going to be impossible to find? not to mention 'hexi-grips' for the bars. lol.

Parts aren't too bad (guessing you've not found the 'for sale' thread yet or 'Auction Watch'), but decals are difficult. More a case of touching up with modelling paints on these early alpinestars.
