Newbie - 1972 BSA Wayfarer Restoration

Re: 1972 BSA

Hi thank you for your help, trying to sell a BSA and hunted everywhere until I saw your page. Found out it is the Wayfarer and once I saw your bike I am having second thoughts about selling it as I have had a glimpse of what it could look like. Great job and it looks the part, not sure if I would have time to do one!

Good luck.......

did my paper round on one of these.......

+1 :D. My first bike, put cow horns on it and we went everywhere together [including camping and fishing] whilst I built up a Raleigh just in time to get my motorbike licence. :?

Any way well done with a very nice build.

Re:

love it - I used to have one of these, but it was stolen from outside my flat in Islington in the 90s.

Re:

Hi, no this bike is 100% the BSA wayfarer. It was purchased as a BSA wayfarer and restored as a BSA wayfarer. The Head badge is BSA with the crossed rifles and the crank spokes are made up of the letters BSA. Yes Raleigh did do a wayfarer, but the differences is are that the Raleigh was branded Raleigh and the crank on the Raleigh wayfarer is made up of the Raleigh bird symbol....

Re:

It appears to have the octagonal Raleigh headset, which would mean 26 tpi, I'll bet it has 26 tpi raleigh bottom bracket.
Close up pics of the bottom bracket showing the bracket bearing cups would confirm this.

Absolutely nothing on it from the BSA birmingham factory.

And yet, because it was sold with the name BSA on it, as a BSA product, it is a BSA and not a Raleigh.
