Thanks all for the comments. I'm going to find my self a set of pace by the looks of it :) and dossa, I was looking at some of your posts last night and my frame is same one as yours I think but with original capital letters. I'm wondering if I could polish mine to the same standard as yours? Even if the frame has started to rust? Iv tried uploading pics but doesn't seem to work

What Manitous have you got fitted at the mo? I've got a set of Manitou 3's and they are very capable forks, until you get sorted with some PACE i would use the time to get your Mani's up and running. Once youve got your RC35's you can then sell your Mani's and re-coup some dosh ;) its kinda part of the 'Retro-re-cycle' Scheme that happens on here :D

Looking forward to the build thread :)

The manitou's I have fitted at the mo are Mach 5's. I was thinking the bike shop was basically rodding me off when they said they're too old to service. Surely anything of any age can be serviced? I will take your advice and sort them myself, going to google it very shortly :) besides it will keep me occupied until I have decided exactl what I'm doing with the frame

No reason why not, mine was in a similar if not worse state -

**EDIT - in fact looking closer at your pics, should be straightforward, can't see any obvious issues there, nickel looks fine underneath the tatty lacquer**

Scrub off the lacquer taking the rust off with it, Autosol the hell out of it, get the Turtle Wax on it, then get someone to re-lacquer it (in my case, C&G Finishes in Liverpool) topped with new decals from Gil.

Once the lacquer's on you can't obviously polish the frame any further so get it as shiny as you can as the lacquer coat will make it look a bit duller anyway.

(As for uploading pics, I just upload images to photobucket then click on the "IMG Code" option then copy/paste it on to your post)

Many thanks. I'm scrubbing the hell out of it right now and it's actually putting a big smile on my face watching it shine up :) pics to follow

Ps. Yours looks sweet! Did it cost much to lacquer it? And where did you get decals from?

Ta...

Decals from member gil_m on here.

They resparayed my forks/stem as well as a couple of other things, so not sure on the precise amount for just lacquering - perhaps 25-40gbp-ish, dunno....? Someone will be able to tell you, however.
