New trail bike recommendations?

My main trail bike is getting ready for replacement and I think I know what I want but seeing if anyone has any other recommendations.....

650b , 160mm front , 140-150 rear, 65 or less head angle, 75 or more seat tube angle.

Current bike is a 2017 Evil insurgent , 11 speed XTR , Enve wheels , lyric rc2 etc. Mine is great to defend but climbs not great compared to my Kingdom which I’ve been riding all winter again.

My initial thoughts are a Yeti sb140 with new XTR and reserve wheels ? Any options I’m missing?

I’d like a threaded bb ideally which yeti is missing but not a deal breaker.

Re:

An orange five? Personally I reckon 29ers have gotten so good the last few years that the old arguments about handling etc don't hold water anymore, and I'd rather have a 29er trail or enduro bike than a 650B.

Re:

Thanks for response

I had a “5” about 5 years ago and don’t reckon much to them. The single pivot as very little support for pedalling and I’m not keen on the box section frame.

Another option is going 29’ and buying a forbidden Druid.

Re:

Haven’t done anything yet due to damn covid. Can’t justify £8-9k on a trail bike currently when my Evil is still going strong at 3 years old this month. If stuff goes back to normal over winter I’ll plump for a SB140 or maybe even another Evil dependant what they release.

Did end up buying a gravel bike in May due to sheer time I’ve spent whilst off work riding gravel

Re:

I asked if you had gone for the SB140 as i'm seriously tempted, and wondered if you would be able to share your experience of it. Haven't ridden one yet, which i'd need to do before buying.

I'm between the medium and large sizes. Not sure which way to go, as I've had advice steering me towards both sizes. A test ride will obviously help work out what is best

I've never ridden bigger wheels than 26", and 29" just seems wrong, hence looking at something that is 27.5".

Anyone on here got or ridden an SB140?

Re:

I’m 5.11 and I’m in between sizes too but I’d be going for a large probably in grey or turquoise.

Watched loads of reviews and it seem it’s a good trail bike. My Evil is more of a short travel DH rig as it’s so bottomless. But as I enjoy climbs I need a steeper west tube and more reach than I currently have.

Re:

I am the same height as you - we have the same size choice. but I am only interested in the grey or smoke colour. ;)
