New to Forum - any retro rides in Scotland this year?

I'm new to this forum but not the sport.

I worked when I was a student at Robin Williamson Cycles in Edinburgh in the early 80s. Mountainbikes just appeared and we were among the first to specialize in them. We formed a small club, many of the guys from back then I'm still riding with.

I've still got a couple of early bikes, and am keen to see if there are any retro rides planned in Scotland this year.

I've still got a handbuilt Alves from about 88 with IRD forks and brakes, WTB hubs. It was well used and not as shiny as those I've seen on here.

I've ridden with Jacqui Phelan and Charlie Kelly, I've been in Charlie Cunningham's workshop and met Joe Breeze. Some of the best experiences ever.

You must be the guy I met with CK and a few of the other guys on a ride in the Marin Water district awhile back-you asked for directions and I said "You're not from around here, are you?" It was a sunny day and we took pictures-that was you-right?

Always stuff going on in MacRetro at least once a month if not more.

Big meet at Kirroughtree on 27th March.

Otherwise we organise mini meets as we see fit ;)

FairfaxPat, That was indeed me. That turned out to be a great day. After I left you guys I rode up past Bontempi Dam and onto Bolinas Ridge all the way to Olema.

I'll have to get back out with you guys again. I stil receive the odd email from Charlie and Jacquie came over to stay with me here in Fife.
