New (Old) Specialized Hardrock Sport (1991)

Re:

I will try the WD40 dip. All essential park tools and final parts arrived today so I am keen to get it back together and complete.

I am thinking of getting hold of a Marin for my next project although I have seen a Raleigh Lizard today which is a bike I really wanted as a kid!!

Re:

And the finished product.

Cables and otters changed, new chain, lots of cleaning. Swapped them step but it didn’t fit so put the original and glad I did. It’s still very much original and I even managed to salvage the tyres and inner tubes.

I will try and take some better pictures this weekend.

As my first project I absolutely loved it and am now looking for another one but more of a build from a retro frame!

Re:

That is excellent work! It looks great. I think you'll find it's a surprisingly nice ride, too. Enjoy.

Re:

Thank you. It is very comfy! Bit too small for me but my wife likes it - now I need a new project. Similarly retro. I may look for a bigger Hard Rock!
