Excellent bike. I've had mine nearly twenty years. It's had new bars and gear-change triggers after a couple of crashes but otherwise soldiers on for ever. My son with a sophisticated modern offroader keeps dropping hints about his need for an old hardtail but no chance!
Put on the narrowest possible slicks and yours will be fine for the road. Or put on "roadster" treaded tyres and it will retain a lot of off-road ability because of its low weight.
