New member, "new" Kona Hahanna

Retro Newbie
Hey all, new member from the home of most cool retro MTB stuff, Vancouver BC Canada!
I picked up an older Kona Hahanna (appears to be a 95?) off craigslist locally for $40 CND Friday as a secondary "buddy" bike and have a couple questions about it. It appears to be mostly unmolested apart from the ridiculously oversized tires, which are being swapped out with some others from my parts stash, and the brakes, which had the wrong pads put on the front.
This is my first experience with truly retro Konas, and I'd like to keep it as correct as possible, despite it not being a very high end or desirable bike. I DO have an 01 Kona Roast that my wife rides and I'm restomodding a 2001 Rocky Mountain Spice that I'll start threads on soon.

So my questions are if anyone spots anything that points to it being not a 95ish, or anything that sticks out as it being cobbled together? And since I've never played much with cantilever brakes, does anyone have any suggestions for good brake shoes?

Re:

Hi and welcome :D

Im no expert but it looks pretty original apart from maybe tyres ? ,
I have a Cinder cone " hack bike " from the same year and it rides great .

As for brake blocks i have used both Aztec and Cool stop blocks in the past and found them better than the stock low end shimano ones , worth playing with straddle wire height to get optimum feel / power too .

Just dont expect miracles

Cheers Paul.

Thanks guys! A 96 eh? I was pretty close going off pics from the internet, as I was 7 when this bike would have been sold. Not super critical to know the exact year, but nice to add on the insurance just in case.
Cool stops sound good, I had a set on my last "spare" bike and they worked pretty good on cheap Vbrakes until I taco'd the rear rim.
As for ludicrous stopping power, I have a set of HS22 Racelines awaiting some mount parts that fit that bill nicely :)

I was planning to hit that up, if I can get my rack to work with my car I'll bring the Konas and what I've finished so far on the Spice build. I would have loved to hit the swap meet up Sunday but spent the day down with some sort of stomach bug. Oh well, we')) see what UBC has Saturday.
