New chains and sprockets won't work

needs piccies so we can look objectively at everything - theres the rumour of a possibility of a maybe that there simply isnt enough chain wrapping round the cogs, have had this before with similar results

Re:

The fact its only happening when you put stress through the pedals suggests something is worn and the new chain isn't meshing correctly.
I assume everything was indexed & working OK before the new chain, but as things have now been swapped in/out it could be hard to say for certain.
New chain, new cassette, new chainring, then you can be sure you've ruled those 3 out.
I've had chains slip on worn chainrings before and been sure it was the cassette as the rings looked "OK" to me, it's also hard to see if it's slipping at the front or rear when riding. And I also hoped a new chain would stretch and in time fit the older csssette/, rings.... It didn't.
If you get it working nicely then you can try swapping in the M770 cassette, see if the problem returns, then you'll know if it was that or the rings.
Also check the chain for stiff links.
If that doesn't sort it then it's time to get a new bike

Re:

Can't see the chainring causing a problem at the cassette end. Maybe the chain isn't routed through the derailleur correctly and not getting enough wrap round the cassette?

Re:

were they all the same 991 chain, if so buy a cheap KMC chain and see if it happens there.
Given the same thing happens with other cassettes (not worn?), but not with the original setup. I try another brand of chain.
nice to see you drop in :)

Saying that.. you've tried other chains with new cassette to and it stilll slips.

Could it by chance be the freewheel just loosing a ratchet spot..
probably not but along with every other option given, it's a something else.

Bent mech hanger?
+1

I’m quietly confident I’m right with this. Have you made sure it’s straight? I fitted a new cassette (new to me) to my Zaskar and had a Similiar issue and the mech hanger was miles out.

Cdertainly my LBS how has it as standard procedure to replace the hanger on any bike with 10+ speeds reporting shifting problems if cabling is OK.

Re:

I'm thinking it could be the freehub body, as I had something similar on a worn drivetrain and I too replaced chain and cassette, but the problem persisted. The symptom was almost identical to chain slip over the cassette, but it was in fact the freehub momentarily not engaging causing the skip.
