not good at the moment
its a really early one ser no 73
has pins and c-clips on the bottom rear link
got early steel legged amp forks for it too ,but they need a steerer
change , and that means stripping them fully ,so was gonna fit
some manitou ones instead

i occasionally look at it and think i should get on with it
might go out to the shed later and have another look

Only rode one once about 18 years ago but I really liked it.

Definitely a classic. Frame and fork both are among my all-time favorites. Requires a bit of regular maintenance (tightening the hex bolts at the pivots). They had a bit of a rep of being a little sketchy under hard riding at times but they were built on the edge of lightness/durability for the day.

Bike frames really weren't meant to be ridden and abused for 20 years IMO so that's a general warning but the AMP had a bit of a rep already. That shouldn't be taken as a knock on the bike. Perfect for a moderate XC course but on a difficult course I would ride with a bit of caution.

Sorry for the highjack  kind of related

Would the guy who bought my fork please sell it back to me as i puut a hell of a lot into getting it working including having new pivots, springs collers etc cnc'd cost me a lot so i want em back

Theese are the best frames & forks if you want something light, rides well but can be maintenance heavy if you ride them allot.

Got the same that im repainting and customizing with a B4 fork.

I've got one in the cupboard awaiting a build too. Looks like yours has been repaired/has a frame saver for the rear mech/drop out. I hope it's all good under there. Been threatening to finish my mongoose amplifier for a year or so now too, earlier incarnation of this frame, and damn light!
