New Altus 3x7 shifters any good?

Hi all.. my mate has a 96 Lava Dome with knackered shifter. He just wants a no-nonsense reliable solution. Last time we fitted tidy used STX triggers but they failed, so he prefers new items this time.
Anyone know if Shimano Altus SL-M310 shifters are any good? They seem a bit cheap price on ebay at 20 quid but at least they are a branded product..

I had some 9sp versions and they seemed pretty good. Dual push too. For £20 what's the worst that could happen?

Thanks ishaw, yup agree.. it's just that we live in Malaysia where 7x3 bikes of decent quality hardly exist, i'm visiting UK in a couple of weeks time so i have one shot to buy and pick up something. Want to get it right. Mail order to Malaysia not so reliable..
So that's one positive vote for the Altus then, thx!

Hi shed, the 7 speed shifter is toast, it cannot 'grab and hold' the lowest 3 gears.

shitter the ones i have are 8 but the 3 one is fine,the 8 has the bottom cover missing
