Neo-retro MTBs - let's see 'em

I know there's a neo-retro thread in the road section but not found a similar collection in either MTB section. Inspired by jacoborf's Lava Dome and letmetalktomark's Caldera I'm planning on making my new arrival (is that the postman I hear? :? ) a little more up-to-date - thinking BMX pivotal seat and post, narrow-wide single chainring, etc - maybe then I'd ride more instead of just throwing money to make my builds period correct and then selling them on once done.

C'mon, let's see your retro rides dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st Century

I like the idea of this thread. This is something I'm planning on doing with my rsp ti, in the not to distant future. Just got to start collecting the bits. Il be watching this one with interest and Il add mine once it's done.

I guess my 1992 RMB Vertex could unkindly be described as a mutt now

Here it is on a 3 hour ride around Squamish BC the other day.

It's got stuff from the late 80's through to modern, including Chromag risers, Tiagra short cage rear mech, Exotic carbon fork, modern XT V brakes etc. It's way more fun to ride compared to the 'period correct' version that I built which I bloody hated!
