Neo-Retro Mountain Goat Whiskeytown Racer in Dirt Rag

Senior Retro Guru
Latest installment of the Specialty Files in Dirt Rag #149 features the first Whiskeytown Racer from the "new" Mountain goat. We recently redid the bike in something of a "neo-retro" style. Phil Wood hubs, Paul Thumbies with carbon SRAM 10 speed shifter, home made 2 x 10, Panaracer Timbuk IIs, silver hubs/rims/spokes, Grab On MTN grip, Ti Goat Horn bars, team orange/green paint, polished crank and brakes, Eriksen Ti post...........I think it came out great and has a neat blend of new/old (but I sure someone out there will disagree:skep: ).

Just doesnt do it for me.

Front end looks too high, and I'm not a fan of the bar/stem.

Classic Goat paint though.

that is amazing . :D
really nice .

but as Pickle is saying the fron end looks really high , ws the frame designed with the sus fork in mind ?

If I was starting over, I might consider canti brakes but this was more of a "make over" and the disc mounts were already there.

The bike is suspension correct and it is just an 80mm fork. I am guessing that it is the camera angle that makes it look "tall"?

It's a big old frame alright; must be 20-21" at least. That's why it looks tall.
Very nice, but wouldn't like my bits to meet that stem clamp, thankyou.

I love that stem!!.... gonna put one on the wish-list .. 8)

Liking the bike too, incidentally.. agree on V' / canti's (V's probably) though.
