Need some info about bastard Yeti arc as lt (Schwinn)

Just heard back from the OG owner:

Hi Nick,
I bought it directly from Schwinn at the Veloswap in 1994 or 1995. At the time, they sold odd stuff left over from the operations in Boulder out of a Schwinn truck at the swap. They had 2 of these, I bought one and a friend bought the other. Neither had been ridden or even built. They came with a funky offset seatpost that I can’t remember the name of right now – it had an S bend toward the top of the post to provide about 3cm of setback. Schwinn had been working on colors for the homegrown series at the time (and I think the Moab also had this red/black paint job). I had some friends at Schwinn, and I remember going in to see them and they had a black painted frame (hardtail) with some dart-shaped cutouts that they had magic-markered red and had taped to the frame, in order to visualize the potential paint job. I’m guessing that the Yeti frames were painted this way to see what it looked like. Not sure why they did it on a full suspension frame, since none of the full suspension bikes ever had this paint job. Although I can’t remember if yeti had a similar turquoise/yellow dart/lug paint job kind of like this.

I rode and raced this frame, then passed in on to my wife, then daughter. For most of its life it had spinergy 4-spoke MTB wheels on it, which looked kind of cool. Got lots of comments on it.

Hope that helps.
Cheers,
jon

Great story. I wonder how many were made... He mention two of them and one with a opposite paint scheme is on the Mammoth front page i posted.

Re:

Looking for a black or silver 100-120mm stem for this frame. Ringle, Control Tech or Syncros would be nice.

Aaahhh!!! I just bought a NOS yeti front triangle and I need an As Lt rear end. I wish I could have got my hands on that frame!!! Aaaahhhhh!!! :)

Lol.. I had to try! I figured you only paid $300 so I was hoping the attachment factor wasn't too high. :) I was watching that auction too. I was soooo close to buying it but I said to myself " when would I ever find an aslt front triangle??... Little did I know the answer was a few months later.. :) nice score.. Did I mention I'm a yeti fan too? :)
