Trojanhead

Retro Newbie
Hi everyone new here I've been into cycling for years but the world of retro mountain bikes is totally new to me. I would like a retro bike the problem is I'm a big guy I was thinking of a sort of entry level and maybe upgrading brakes and group set as money is an issue.
I have found a Saracen hardtrax but will that be up to the job? Any help would ne greatly appreciated thanks.

I think that's how most of us started - frame, upgrade the bits, then switch then onto a new frame. Rinse and repeat.

What I think many discover is that there are some seemingly lowly frames that are just nice to ride. I'd give the Saracen a go.

How big is 'big'? I'm 6'5" and over (cough) 19 stone and MTBs with a 20" or more frame do me ok for fit and don't seem to collapse under my massiveness.

The only proviso is that I always fit 400 or 450mm sest posts to spread the load and reduce leverage at the vulnerable seat tube/cross bar junction on the frame.
