Anyone clued up on how to transfer registrations? This could be quite complicated.

Basically I have a car with a normal registration, and I have seen a suitable registration that wont break any age changing rules etc. BUT it's still attached to a car, and the car is part of the sale......

If I buy the car, can I then transfer that registration number onto my car throught the DVLA, or do I have to scrap that car or is it just too complicated?

I've bought a private reg direct from the DVLA before but obviously this is a bit different cos there's a whole car involved... :? :?

Any help would be good..

The dvla will issue a replacement number plate for to car you have transfered the number plate from either the original or a random age related plate. The car it comes off must (I think) be moted and taxed/sorned.

Cheers guys.

So providing the donor cr is legal, can I scrap it once I've done the dirty deed of lifting the reg off of it?

Donor car needs to be MOT'd and taxed, not sorned......
Or, not have been 'off the road' for more than 6 months.

(think i've got this right!!) ;)

well the donor car is completely legit, and hasn't missed an MOT it's whole life... so hopefully all is well,

The plate in question is an ageless three letter, three number configuration.
