Need Help Identifying Diamond Back Topanga Year

Hey, all. I just acquired a Diamond Back Topanga, and I cannot figure out what year it is.

Hours of research and referencing other bikes off here have only narrowed down my year range to 1987 - 1993.

The chainstay mounted U-brakes really throw me off.

Does anyone mind telling me what year this is? Thanks!

chainstay u brake diamond backs are certainly the older variety, so it would be at the 87 end of your spectrum

There are 82 DiamondBacks. This one predates my knowledge I'm afraid, so pre 90

I spent countless hours as a 14yr old admiring the Diamond Back catalogue of 1989 prior to buying an Ascent Ex, I'm certain this bike was in there. As captain says the decals definitely look 89.
