Narhay's Parkpre Pro 825

Narhay

Devout Dirtbag
Appears to have components dated to Q (1992) but looks more like a 1994 based on the only catalogue I could find here:
http://www.parkpre.com/bikecatalog94/pages/paged.htm

I picked it up tonight and it is already in about seventy billion pieces in my living room. Has a pretty funky crimped seat tube where it meets the bottom bracket shell. A bit of surface rust on some of the steel of the components but it should clean up nicely.

Frame: 17" ctc of seat cluster, 19" ctt. 22" top tube, Tange Ultimate. Sticker on seat tube says '19 Geometry'.

Re:

Nice find, any plans for a rebuild? I have a nice Comp limited in Forest Emerald, they are much underrated frames and ride so well.

Re:

I'm not sure about a rebuild just yet. It's something I've been considering all day.

I usually ride a 21" frame so this one might be a bit small for me. It would certainly be a very nice bike rebuilt but I can't help but hear the allure of parting out those XT bits and keeping a few for my Team Marin and Merlin. Of course I have impulsively rebuilt bikes that have no business fitting me in the past...

Re:

Don't strip it, rebuild it, there aren't many around. You wont regret it, they ride great, I have rebuilt a Comp Limited & a Team 925. These bikes really do scrub up well & its something different to ride when you hit the trails.....

I replaced a number of items with new bolts, pulley wheels, tires, cables, housing, seatpost, saddle, bottom bracket, bearings, chain, pedals, crank, grips, fork, cassette stem and bar. Re:

Good work.

Looks like 1993 judging by the groupset - the rapidfire plus shifters first appeared that year, and I think by 1994 the (IMO silly) gear indicator windows had appeared. Could have been a later upgrade of course, but the rest of the groupset seems to fit.

Lovely clean build. Are you cutting the fork steerer on the kitchen worktop!!

Re:

Lovely job there mate, another one saved & back on the road. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get those forks from? And what have you done with the old PFR seat?
