Mystery track frame.

Picked up this lovely old track frame recently and was told it was a 1950's JRJ (Bob Jackson). It has similar features, such as are-inforced chainstays at the Bottom BRacket cluster, but Donald at Bob Jackson says it is not one of their frames. SO was hoping for some help I.D.ing it. Ithink it has braze ons added later, as (especially the gear mech hanger) do not look to be of the same quality as the rest of the build.

The only numbers I can find are an 78 on drive side dropout and an 82 on the other dropout and the fork steerer tube, which would seem remarkably early if sequential, as well as 18332 that appears to be hand scratched into the steerer tube, which would seem to late to be a frame number if it was a JRJas this would be 1985, and it looks far far to early to be from then.

Any help or ideas appreciated. Will add more photos later

Looks like a 74 degree head, 72 degree seat tube angle (or could be 73/71?) Road Path frame from the 1950's to me. Generally used for time trialling on fixed wheel with the occasional track racing (probably on grass) when needed. The gear hanger has been added some time later along with the gear cable stops etc. The rear brake bridge isn't original. I suspect as it would probably have been built with a plain undrilled one. The reinforced type as yours is possibly a 1980's addition? Whatever it is - it's a nice frame!

I like the crank, is there a pair complete with chainring?

Re:

the double lugged bottom bracket to chainstay join is interesting. Not seen that before

Yep, interesting BB. Woodrup used to do all sorts of bottom bracket strengthening stuff BITD, seem to remember they used some sort of double tube for the seat tube/ BB area with one tube inside the other.
