Not my bike so no photos, sorry, chap in Brick lane bikes yest had just picked up a stunning Melchioretti road bike,Columbus SL,green nickel plated!,aero fork crown, fag paper clearance at back with vertical dropouts, gold plated bolts on Super record brakes, mechs, cranks, but Suntour aerro gear levers, leather Almarc bar coverings, just stunning had 88 amongst serial number and parts reflected this, just stunning looked unridden, either a show bike or custom dropbar TT rig,no joy on Google,Velobase nor Rendevous am assuming a contractor builder for the big guys any help would be gr8 will try and get owner to post pics

I have no idea if it is still available, as the steel frame has become an almost thing of the past ( in the Pro ranks) but in the early/mid 80"s there was a book, some what akin to a telephone directory available in Italy listing the in production frame builders, at that time it was a lot of smoke & mirrors, & it was sometimes very difficult to establish who had indeed built what frame,It could possibly be a shop name, & have been built by any one of the quality builders, or it maybe have indeed the builders name on it. I have a 1984 copy & cannot come up with an active builder of that name in that year.

Re: mysterious italian steel

Many thanks for looking anyway, the name might even of been the rider, owner can't really ask guy he bought it off as he knocked him down to 800 from 1300! Which is a shame as being the Derby area I wondered if it was a show bike connected with Mercian who have long been a Campag importer anyway glad to report fella who has bike had no intention to sell and was v excited about his new world of 126 width hubs etc again many thanks
