Mystery frame with cinelli parts.

Retro Newbie
Hello,

I recently picked up this bycicle. It has a cinelli BB, stem and handlebars, wich were cut and transformed into bullhorn bars :( .
Rear Derailleur - shimano 600
Front Derailleur - shimano 105
Crank - shimano 105
Brake levers - shimano 105
Brake clippers - galli
Headset- Campagnolo

Can you tell me more about this frame? I didn't find anything about the Vedett' Email enscription on the down tube.

It has some nice details on it such as the front and rear dropouts, i guess it has columbus tubes (see the decal wich is in very bad shape that says forcella originale). The bike is lighter than my Atalla bike with aelle tubing, so i hope it has slx tubes.

My plan is to make a full repaint of the frame and fit a campagnolo group.

The fork crown looks like the columbus MAX style (but that style wasn't only used on MAX frames), and the tubes look to be larger diameter than standard 1", so it might be MAX. Can you accurately measure the tube diameters? what's the seatpost size?

I like the detailing where the stays meet the rear dropout!

Re:

Hi,

Vedett'Email provided frame painting for quite a few Parisien frame builders including amongst others:

GILLEN of Vincennes
ALAIN MICHEL of Fontenay sous bois
POLCHLOPEK of Pontault combault area 77
GEMINI of Vincennes

I'm sure yours isn't an Alain Michel, as his frames are generally stamped. But it might be worth doing research on the others.

Vedett'email is a paint company in Vincennes, just east of Paris (émail is French for enamel).

I can't identify the frame, but it's certainly not Columbus Max. Max tubes have a very pronounced taper and ovalisation.

Any sign of a serial number? French, Italian, or British threads?

Re:

Hello,

Today I'm going to strip the frame down. I'll do the mesurements and get back to you, also i want to weigh the frame. That should give me an idea about the tubes used in the manufacturing of this frame.

Re:

Hello,

I've stripped the bike down and made some pics. Didn't have the tool to strip the crank and weigh the frame&fork.
The measurement for the seat tube is 28mm with a interiror measurement of 26.1 - 26.2mm. No serial whatsoever on the entire frame.

Nice pictures.

This frame, identified as a Polchlopek build, sports the same distinctive open stay ends and fork blade tips, as does this Ganolo. Perhaps Polchlopek built for Ganolo as well as under his own name. Not all Ganolo frames exhibit the same style.

The text on the top tube is "Cadres sur mesures" (custom built frames) and "Modèle Déposé" (Registered design).
