After successfully refurbishing my 1974 Carlton Cobra as a first ever project. I have got the bug and decided to start on another. (After all it is raining heavily outside and the garage is nice and dry.) My Peugeot is another of my workhorses and has been regularly used for my flat pleasure riding (not really geared for the hills) It has also been used as a flat touring bike hence the pannier rack. All accessories are coming off and all original parts will be degreased and cleaned. The bike rides smoothly at present and has new wheels and hubs, but has the original chainrings and rear cassette. The bodywork has a few rust spots, and my initial thoughts are I may even have a go at a home repaint job. Never done one before, but a friend with car repair experience has offered advice and help. I know many here have also done home respray jobs and step by step advice would be much appreciated. Many may also say the bike is not worth restoring, but I am passionate about my old faithfuls and now that I have the time, I want to bring them back to their best they have all been faithful servants over the years. I also have another project lined up, another family workhorse an early 1990 Raleigh Michigan, but that bike has another story to tell. I will keep posting with news of how things are progressing.
