Here is one for you,from 2010 when a small group of us rode coast to coast .Our route from west to east took us along Swale dale . The slog up to Tan hill, then the long drop down to Reeth .Great fun and a lovely ride

Now you got me thinking. Back in 1998! I rode the Yorkshire Dales 400k Audax from east to west It started at 2359hrs. I remember riding up through Reeth,Gunnerside & Muker . The route then took riders over Birkdale Common . I remember the stunning views over the Lake District and the haunting call of the Curlews. Running out of steam at Knaresborough with bad dehydration checking into a b&b .....DNF.... 75k from the finish . Another story in itself .
