Postman came, with a big radiator box and a pair of forks sticking out the side. Looked ominously like the usual shambles that is City Link. Had a look and they seemed ok and once on the stand it confirmed it. Lots of small patches of surface rust and the BB shell has lost most of its paint.
From Evilbay for the princely sum of £40. Not in very good nick but not awful either. Looks like its been left in a wet shed for awhile. Mixed bag of components :
Dura Ace Front Mech (needs replacing as the rub has made the middle wafer thin and its cracked)
105 Rear Mech
105 Brake Levers
600 Brakes and Shifters
6 Speed Double
Tracer 170 Double Crank
Aelle Columbus Tubing
Mixed pair of Wheels. I think the Rear is brand new by the looks of it. Mavic Open Sport Rim with an unmarked hub.
Front is a Rigida Chrina with unmarked hub thats usable but in poor condition.
Weird thing is the bars have snapped (knew this before I bought it) The Alloy on the bends on both sides have bubbled like mad and one side actually snapped. Not seen this before.
Looked like bar stem is stuck, but left it with some GT85 soaking twice and its finally moving but still can't get it out. Dont have a vice in my flat so it'll have to be removed when I go sand blast it on Monday or Tuesday.
Overall quite happy with it and after a blast and respray hope it will build into a nice commuter.
Bike is now completely stripped except for the bars and was probably well looked after till it was stored.
