Nothing wrong with Kalloy - they made just about everyone else's OEM posts.

This is true

Do U.S.E do an alien Alloy in 25.0mm ? Shim that to 27.0mm and the post is 420mm long
Im using the 27.2 version and im more than happy with it

Re:

Handsomedog Lite Stik cheap, reasonable weight, seem fairly good. readily available on ebay in 27.0... I have on 2 of my rides

Thanks everyone for the advice. Sadly, the Raleigh Dynatech / M Trax MT3 only went up to 19.25", which I slightly outgrew at the end of the 90s. But I still own two, I love the ride characteristics, and I'm not ready to move on to other bikes yet. Hence the need for the long seat post.

Based on the advice in this thread, I'm thinking of getting a couple of kalloys as stop-gaps, and also a Thompson.

Thomson ? I'm 6'3" and fairly heavy ;)

Just wanted to reinforce these comments. There is a wide range of Kalloy products out there some of which are quite nice - Velo Orange sells a nice looking one in silver which goes well with certain retro builds.

Re:

I like my Kalloy inlines. Never bent or broken one yet. Used two styles and the current brandX/Tioga ones at CRC have been very cheap.

I did bend a Syncros I then swapped out for a kalloy uno bitd.

These USE posts of old are flimsy things to
Never stay still one their 'rod' and had a few turn up with bends on them.

Heard good things about Thomson posts and they make them their selves and don't just spec and rebrand some kalloy/other generic brand

Thompson stems and posts are beautiful and have a very special timeless quality. They look great on retro and modern builds.
