My PEUGEOT Collection - One bike at a time

I have the original saddle which is fine and comfy, but going to swap it out for a nice Turbo one… in two minds go original or slightly tweak it… hmmm IMG_2639.jpeg

Wheel wise, functionally perfect, but the spokes are corroded. On the other bike I rebuilt the wheels with new DT stainless steel spokes to look nice. Not sure if I’ll do that this time? Decisions how far to go on this one ☝️ 🤔

Tyre wise, I have no more original Peugeot tyres left that are from that era. So for now I have some very aged / cracked Continental tyres circa 1995ish to use. Not ideal but will have to do.

That has cleaned up lovely! 💪 Another great job on another lovely Peugeot. 😍

Look forward to seeing it altogether when you get chance.

I'd choose the foam grips over the Onza as they are more period correct

Thanks, it’s got battle scars and definitely not NOS, but it’s still a gorgeous period Peugeot bicycle. I did get it all back together tonight except for new cable set. Will do that tomorrow.

I put the Onza bar grips on but agree, will be swapped out to more period correct foam replicas. Covid has it’s benefits to just come out and play with retro bicycles 🤣👏👍

Only thing I’m really not happy about is the spokes. Gotta feeling I’ll revisit this restoration with the wheels being rebuilt and better tyres to sign it fully off.

It's in great nick if you think about how it might have been used/stored and will have over 35 years of patina!

Hope you're feeling a little bit better. Not sure the NHS would recommend tinkering with old bike is a way of dealing with COVID, but looks like it has helped you out! 💪

Understand the issue with spokes. Get it build up with it's cracking tyres(!) and make a decision later as what to do. Doesn't affect the rest of the build one bit.

SJS do the Grab on MNT-1 grips if you wanted someone a bit posher but period correct.

Got it finished this morning before taking my son to cycle club. Decided to take the Montana with me for a wee spin too and get some photos of it finished (for now). It’s too large a frame for me but still mega comfy to ride.
