My PEUGEOT Collection - One bike at a time

Fantastic Mike! I remember that particular model well… my friend at school / cycle club had that model. I always remember when he got a dura ace groupset for Christmas to upgrade it. Very jealous 🤣🤣🤷‍♂️
Yes it's a real head turner, and now I have a long enough seatpost I can ride it without worry.
I'd love Dura Ace for the 708 I've just collected from my friend who hid it for me 😂 but 9s Ultegra will have to suffice!

Well I went on holiday, came home and brought Covid back with me. Feeling quite crap I took myself off to the workshop to find something to do… Ah! The nice Peugeot Montana XT has been begging for a full resto. So I set about it today! Here’s some photos of the full strip down and deep clean.

The down tube had a gigantic bike shop sticker. Did a bit of online research and looks like the family run company is in its forth generation of family ownership. So I emailed them to see if this was indeed a bike they would have supplied back mid / late 80s👍😎.

EL & DW Boxall Cycle Depo - anyone know it?

Gotta love a full degrease and clean with Covid. Every single screw/spring/bolt removed and cleaned. Reassembled in good working order. The first generation XT is completely serviceable = fantastic.

Halfords Matt black spray paint is great to refurb faded XT shifter mounts. Now looking sweet. Just deciding on which bar grips to use… old school soft foam looking? Or reproduction Onza grips?
