Sadly my beloved Bontrager Race Lite got eaten by rust and developed several holes in the tubing. I cannot tell you how gutted I was when OH showed me :( and it was my birthday too, was not amused. I had seen a GT Corrado before and had only really noticed it as I drive a red VW Corrado and I thought it would be cool to have a red Gt Corrado too, although I had never seen one for sale. The day after we discovered the rust to the Bonty this frame came up on Ebay US and I had to have it. Our credit card took some abuse and it turned up a couple of weeks later and has been living in our lounge ever since as I decided she is too precious to live in the garage with the other bikes. :D

I'm so chuffed with her, cannot wait to get her together.

So far I have..
Mavic rims with black LX hubs
Black LX Cantis
XT front and rear mechs
Black XT thumbies
LX chainset

I have tyres, seatpost, bars and stem all earmarked, just amassing funds together first!!

She isn't going to be anything spectacular but she is my first Retro build and she will be well loved and hopefully well ridden...

Now I just can't wait to get a pic of her and my 'other' corrado together... :)

I have the identical bike - built up with whatever I had lying around to pull our Chariot trailer. It's a great riding bike - fast and nimble. I have an INDY XC long travel fork in mine (75mm) and the front is still nice and quick. If you decide to run V-brakes let me know and I'll send you pix of how I did it.

Looking forward to seeing progress on this one!

BTW here is the link to the Bikepedia entry for that bike - in case you want to return it to stock:

and the RockShox optioned version:

ooh, cheers for the links - interesting to read the original spec, looks like most of the LX stuff I have is correct, which is good!

and yeah, I'm not sure which one is cooler either. They are both works in progress, though I expect the bike to be built well before the 'Rado is finished!

nice corrado...both of them.

I actually spotted this on posted it in the ebay w3atch forum back when it was for sale.

IT went a bit higher than anticipated, but still a cool pickup.
