'My ideal bike for the First OWMTB Championship would be...'

As you must all be aware by now, the first Old World MTB Championship is due to take place this September - to celebrate this event and to involve those of you who cannot make the trip (shame... ), we are sponsoring a prize competition for your 'Ideal First OWMTBC Bike' ideas.

Simply write in less than 200 words (with a picture if possible) what your ideal bike for the first OWMTB event would or should be - your entry can be fun or as serious as you like, it can be your own bike or one from history... you decide!

Post your entry here (along with any pictures) and the judges will make their decision in a few weeks time!

The rumour goes the course leads over the highest dunes in the Netherlands.

Okay, I possibly will fall a bit short on the climbs, but with I will be tough to beat on the descends >>

well...simply put...no one can beat you on this !

it's aerodynamic, it's light, it's got the plushness of titanium were needed and the stiffens of carbom at the right place, could this be the perfect old race bike ?!

There is one great choice i can think of, as it climbs like a frightened monkey and decends like a bat of hell.
If iwas going i would like it to be from the UK..

When I first got the MTB bug proper, I was about 12 & in my 1st year of secondary school. If asked, the best bike in the world was a Klein Attitude.... Some of the nicest MTB's I knew in my circle of friends were diamond backs (with Flex stems & Scott AT4s etc) & on the outside back cover of MBUK & Mountain Biker international at the time was the SHOGUN Prairie breaker. Pretty sure it was full XT & Tange Prestige. I liked the look of that.

I have no idea what the bike is called other than its a Schwinn ridden by the great Ned Overend (probably spelled his name wrong), it was red in colour with U-brakes. That would be my choice, an old school mtb xc racer as piloted by one of the greats before all this silly suspension business. Also its American, as the yanks invented mtb they probably knew what was best back then. Finally its a Schwinn the USA's answer to Raleigh, unsung hero in my book and ultimately via clunkers the grandaddy make of the sport. ;)
