However, as brilliant as your leatherwork is, as a stem designer you frankly suck.

Are you thinking of doing the leather commercially? There's definitely a market, although you would be competing against several big names so you'd need to come up with angle. (Don't go with lower price - people automatically perceive lower price as lower quality.)

It's just stands matching for other products ;P

Hmm the question is: that or when is starting commercially?
I have only small online shop with internationally shipping.
Do i sell it wholesale? No.
Do i sell it xx pieces/per month? No.
Can i persist each month from "leather"? No.

It's my passion and great hobby, maybe some day it will be my full time job.

I know probably all "big names"
Brooks, great name, history, Saddle's Saddle's Saddle's... but they make bar tapes in china. I will not talk about quality...
Cinelli, they get some leather bar tape for example, but its simple products with logo. Without history and passion, with quite high price.
VeloOrange... For me it's just some kind of market with old-looking products

I know about two more guys making custom leather work for bike. Leh from US and Busyman from AU which is extremely expensive. And he makes bar tapes from upholstery leather - I don't think its best choice...
