My Dave Russell 653 - Retro/modern

Hi all,
here's a couple of pictures of my 1989 Dave Russell built in Reynolds 653 - this has been a long term project. I bought the F/F off ebay when iwas living in New Zealand a year ago - it was sitting in my parent's shed in devon for a year and when i returned to the UK to live in march is set about getting it restored and on the road - so here is Dave, he weighs around 8kg and is like a whippet!

Nice Bike.... I'm a fan of Dave Russell .... who reset the back end to 130mm?....Thinking of doing something in the future retro modern. I like how its a fusion. works well and nicely balanced....nice

Regarding the rear spacing it measures 128mm so i suspect that it was how it was built - luckily the 10 speed hubs fit in no problem and i can use all cogs without a problem.
The white tape isn't practical though so i'm going to redo it in black.
 
I'm a DR fan too. Great bloke, sadly missed.

Nice bike but please don't fit black tape - you'll spoil it completely!
 
Great looking bike, quality steel frame and modern ish parts that work...whatever, clean lines, well spec,d...very nice bike!
 
Very nice. I like that a lot.

Inclined to agree about the bar tape too, the white does really set the total image of the bike although totally impractical.

Would look OK in black too though. Did you a quick mock up.

Yep, just as I thought, nowhere near as nice.

Keep the white - and wash it regularly!
