Work commuting by kayak sounds acegiven that I've been known to commute in a kayak, on a skateboard, running, on a recumbent and a host of other weird methods, I'd say "yer sure, why the feck not?"

not as glam is it sounds. I live a stones throw from a canal, said canal is a little bit of a bigger stones throw from work about 4 miles along. was great getting in the water, a bitch getting out and carting the kayak down the hill to the office only to have to repeat going home. also a bitch as I start work at 7am, so a 6am on the water start.

Something to ride off road without a 5-6" drop, here's a better picture of the bars. Not quite as high as they look in the side on. Saddle is an 1" higher than I would ride.
