Some charge in there for the taking apart, I'm sending my stuff fully stripped. I'm expecting £100 or so as there a lot of items.

 wow!

I've read your thread a lot, it is part of the reason I'm here! The price is getting silly, I stuck some of the figures into Excel but stopped pretty quickly :D There are a lot of 'only fifty quids' I can keep em both but really I need to shift one because of my expensive tastes. I can't believe how much MRP chain device is, also £70 for a bloody seat post? :| For childish self satisfaction I want it to be a fresh and new as possible, tracking down NOS or barely used is much more expensive. I'm just not counting now, ideally it would be sub £1000 but I think it'll end up £1500ish.

Frame arrived, great seller, pretty much totally honest and excellent packaging. This is the frame I should of had the first time around

So, two big dents but nothing else bar few chips. Feels like it could do with a bearing swap as its a bit stiff in motion (spring removed.) Stickers are under the clear coat but it doesn't look like paint, powdercoat? The stickers are wrinkled under there so there must have been a reaction. I don't know if this is original finish or not? I would guess its had a respray. The shock has a TF Tuned sticker, different spring (no markings) and the top and bottom out bumpers have been cut down. It appears to have been tweaked because it doesn't feel like either the new shock or the other one I have, not in a bad way, just like it has a different damping curve. Could be interesting...

Speaking of which I got what I really wanted :

Really is brand new but in all honesty it feels just like the used one I had so I probably didn't need it :o

The big dilema is here though, it is a smaller frame :

Ideally I'd take the shock and flog the black one back on, easy n quick. However I always wanted a small frame and its now clear I got a medium. I'm 5'10 but its no cross country bike so I don't think it matters, I just prefer the steeper slope of the top tube and the slightly more compact look. You lose the ability to fit a water bottle holder though! :p
So I may end up painting both, then selling the medium and keeping the small. What'll actually happen is by the time one is done I'll be bored and the second will stay for spares.

Few more bits arrived, shifter is really nice and the bearing was one thats not included in either of the two Lobo rebuild kits I bought. I asked Hope and got the answer I always seem to get, no. In the end after some hunting I spoke to Igus and they supplied those which are a perfect fit. They are designed specifically for this type of thing and deal with dirt well. They have a huge range and no doubt could supply all the other plain bearings, handy for the future cos the roller bearings are easy to get but these plastic things aren't. This one is a W350 - 1416-05.
This is the level of detail I'm at, I want to replace everything I can, the range of motion here is only a few degrees back n forth but if the brake didn't rotate the suspension could not move at all. I appreciate with 12 stone on it'll always move it but I want to know its perfect.

Stickers haven't arrived after two weeks also the polisher is on a go slow because the rear triangle isn't done. I need to get on with the painting..

Nice ! 8)

if you see that ...

Wow!!!I love this thread. Is there any chance that the larger lobo is for sale??? I have been looking for a larger one for some time and have been putting adverts everywhere! I've also been buying spares just in case lol. I already have a shock and have ordered a new bush kit which i'm waiting for!!

Ok I'm back :D I don't much like being outside when it is cold, so now the weather is turning it is time to get my ass into gear. I learnt a long time ago that moisture and painting don't work, so I needed to wait before I start.

Spent a lot of time trying to decide between small and medium, real OEM retro and flashy not original retro.
Also since seeing Monster T's on a Lobo I can't get it outta my head.
There is really only one solution and that is build both frames up, small will have the original spec and the medium will be full of shiny shiny :) Hang one on the wall and beat the shit outta the other 8)

I keep buying stuff that requires me to buy another one to make one decent item, on reflection the tactic is to wait and pay more; buy one good one not two shitters.

The Monsters need work, I have seals and bushes but I need to remove decals, scan and get them reproduced. I'll stick up the scan and supplier when they are done.

The shock is a RS Pro Deluxe from a Schwinn Straight 8, it is NOS from the USA and cost a packet. It is so much more substantial than the original, much beefier all round and has so much damping I can barely move it by hand. I appreciate the pics make it look like it will never fit but it will, trust me I'll get that on there :)

It has the same shaft travel as the original, the bottom mount screws off the Lobo shock and onto the Pro, leaving the only hard part to be the trunnion. I can either use what is there and have some parts machined to screw in or maybe I can open out the Lobo trunnion and slide it over (but the top bump stop is too large, I need to disassemble and I don't want to)

It sticks up about an inch higher when on the bike but the piggyback resivoir goes towards the front of the bike and clears everything through the full range of travel. It is going to be awesome :P

I'll use the medium frame, which really is probably the only one I'll be able to ride comfortably as the base for the Monsters, fancy shock and brakes. Gonna paint this one pearlescent white, then the small one either polished or black I guess, fitted with the Boxxers etc.

To answer the questiosn I can't find 151 decals, don't have a spare swingarm and nothing is for sale :p

Wish I could find the elusive AC Lo Pro crank, gonna have to get M952 but I refuse to pay £100+ for some arms and most are battered under that price. Thanks to the CRC sale I now have four MRP chain devices, so I can run 32t-48t, 4 or 5 bolt and/or a front mech depending on what I need. The order said £389 off lol (spent £80)
I think the 42t AC ring is going to be too much, can't get a smaller one even though they are out there so will have to use somebody elses 36-38t ring

If you wanted to go a different route....
Are you having the proper Azonic Handle bar? Maybe an Azonic crank like this would look nice (/different/match)

There is one in the UK on ebay aswell, but without the bash rings.

Many thoughts on shock, to put the Lobo trunion on would require total disassembly and you would not be able to easily adjust ride height because of the resivoir. I could bore it out and use the nuts but thats a bit crude.

It is held in Yeti Straight 8 with two M5 bolts into a mini trunion, not at all happy about this but it was ok in that application. Shock has steel helicoils already so decided to 'bolt' the mounts on and see how it goes. I was going to go all needle roller bearing here but the sizes are just not right and I'd have to machine the Lobo mounting out a little which I don't want to do.

I made a quick render which was turned into 316 stainless steel by a local machine shop.

I made a mistake on reflection cos I got talked out of high strength steel and into stainless. The body is fine of course but the threaded part looks very small in the flesh. I did strength calcuations after the fact and it is pretty close. Lots of different figures floating about the 'net, but it appears M5 bolts can take a couple a couple hundred kilos before yield when unsupported. It would take ~1 ton of force across the pair to actually shear if my calcs are correct. No big drops to flat...it'll be fine :?

The trunion will be screwed up higher and the resivoir lower when actually mounted for real. Everything clears, just need to swap the bottom eye from the Lobo shock to this one and it is ready to go.
