My 89 Mustang Build

Nexman88

Retro Newbie
Noob to the site here , some grewt stuff on here thanks for having me ..

My first attempt Raleigh Mustang ,Full strip and rebuild one owner from may 1991, no rust at all as the owner duly sprayed it with wd40 after every ride so three de grease attempts later worked well.

Original wheels came up well, bottom bracket adaptor was tricky it had to be machined to fit but works very well now. Overall I am chuffed with the build learned a lot especially setting up gears. It now has a rack on the front, debateing wether to sell for another build as it has certainly got me into building but it rides so well! just need to source some decals and it will be complete, cheers

Wow that's clean. The BIG yellow logos on the tyres work really well with the bold colour scheme. Normally BIG logos on sidewalls don't look that great with retro MTB's.

Do you have any pics with the hipster front rack? I think it looks great without it.

I have a large orange urban proof orange box to fix to it which fits exactly it will then be a cruiser to my allotment for vedge and will have a safe basket as such will post pics when done

Sounds like a perfect use for a bike - carrying things from the allotment. Rack looks good and with the basket saves the faff and hassle of having a bag on your bag and it a lot more comfy too. These 80s MTB's are really a jack of all trades.
