My brother bought a GT Tequesta back in early 2000's and a few months ago I inherited the bike. When I tried to find out the year and the original specs I discovered it didn't existed in the catalogs. After a lot of research I discover that those frames were discarded by GT as defectives. The reason? Somehow they ended up without lacquer over the decals. As cleaning each frame to put lacquer probably wouldn't be worth the price, they dumped the frames. In 1999 those frames ended up in Argentina, brought by the official GT importer.
The bike never had an "original" spec as they were mounted by each customer. However, I'm planning to install some STX-RC or STX Special Edition. Until then it has some low/medium quality parts and some that I have been changing in the last months to put the bike in working condition. It weights around 27.5lbs, works fine and it's ridden almost everyday. Love the riding position .
I'm planning to re-paint it but I want to have the graphics done before. Also trying to find some original parts but here in Argentina it's not easy :x .
Of course, once repainted I wont lacquer the decals
That silverish edge tells me "you'll never make the stickers identical" :x
