My 1957 Peugeot PLX8 Grande Tourisme

I saved this lovely old French girl from being tossed in a dumpster and had to do very little save to install proper bars and install a more appropriate saddle... I took these pictures a few years ago and have since re-laced the front wheel with new stainless spokes.

My estimate, based on the original and unworn chain (a Sedis) and overall wear on the bicycle is that it had spent most of it's 56 years in storage.

That is a lovely bike, and the front changer reminds me of when I fitted a similar one to one of my bikes in the 1960s. It took a bit of getting used to, and I found it easier to change gear using my right hand. Later on, when I had double down tube changers I often used the right hand to change the front mech (left) lever. The Ideale saddle looks very comfortable, too.
