MuddyFox Explorer

Lovely bike, good photos and great description/details regarding the bike. Love these Explorers!

Price isnā€™t insane either based on other eBay bikes, but appreciate some RBers will have picked these up previously for a lot lessā€¦

Yeah I think at auction it would go for less than asking. Yellow is the best colour for a Muddy Fox for sure, this bike just looks right.

This one is mine.
Sadly owes me a chunk more than the asking price, but have pitched it comfortably below the larger Ā£400 bikes that arenā€™t worth that for sure. Iā€™m flexible on price within reason, but also happy to hold on to it as itā€™s my size.

Had to source a new rear hub and freewheel, and got the rear wheel rebuilt. Also had to source a new seatpost and pay out for the Seatpost Man to remove the stuck post.

Saddle could do with re-gluing but at least itā€™s not torn.

Lovely solid bike.

I did suspect it maybe a RBers machine. I think you might have done a build thread with this bike?

Great bikes and era for Muddy Fox before their demise a few years later. This is a great example! šŸ˜šŸ˜Ž

GLWS!

I didnā€™t do a build thread as it was more of a revival really. I got it with another bike, and Iā€™d rather have turned it away had I had the chance to do so, as the busted hub and and stuck post made it more of a project than Iā€™d have liked it to be. So I committed to making it as good as possible working with what I had/needed.
Donā€™t think it has actually been ridden that much based on rim and component wear.
Nice to see them in the smaller size for a change, but still a 19.5ā€!

It's an amazing bike and for me has an emotional connection as a good friend had one BITD and I always loved it. Especially the Suntour XC 6000 groupset with those lovely shaped thumbies and roller cam tucked under the chainstays. Can't believe 19.5" was the smallest size!!! šŸ¤£

Understand a bit of investment has gone on removing the post and rebuilding the back wheel, all these additional little bits all add up!

Sadly no space for another bike at the moment. I'd 100% be keeping it if it was me! ;)
