I have the same bike. The Monarch with Ritchey dropouts is tange Ultimate Ultra lite and my bike is still great at 25 years old. The Comp, Pro, Team was just the groupset and wheelset choice. The frames were all the same. This bike will still be going in 25 years from now. The Monarch has always been underestimated and cheap. Now people are paying good money for restored Monarchs.
Regarding frame weight 1800-1900 grammes depending on size. Still light considering in 1998 the lightest frame (26") without forks was the Gary Fisher Supercaliber made of Aluminium (not carbon or titanium). Which was 1500 grammes in a 15". Specialized only beat this by building 13 and a half inch bikes. The Supercaliber was the Mutts Nuts at $2700 in 1998.
I own both and a few more. The Monarch is the bike I like to ride most.
