Hi Retrobike
Some body can help me to choose the right Campagnolo 26"MTB rims ?

Upon my modest knowledge exist 3 possible Campagnolo 26" MTB rims for a 1991-92-93 Retrobuild

Campagnolo Atek (1991-1993 OK)
Campagnolo Stheno (1991-1993 OK)
Campagnolo Contax (what is the year edition ? )

What your expert experienced knowledge says about these rims ?
Are they good, strong enough for XC ?
Is one of these models more recommended fro this practice ?

Waiting for your advises

I've a pair of stheno's on m900 hubs on my Klein.......great rims, lovely and shiny in the sun, with a good deep braking surface too......makes pad set up simple.......very typical Italian stuff, lots of style.....

Re:

Thank you ridevintagemtb
I already know there are these other models but I'm interested in Atek and Stheno models

And thank you feetabix for your experienced feedback, so they work fine
Do you know the diffrence between Stheno and Atek ? Weight maybe ?

Re:

I have both Atek and Stheno rims. The Ateks are slightly lighter and narrower than the Sthenos and are ideally suited to the 1" tyres I use on my Cannondale.I have yet to have my NOS Stheno rims made up into wheels, but I would use these with wider off road tyres. When I used the Sthenos with 1" tyres the ride was harder because the tyre was stretched wider, but it did work.

Its not easy finding NOS rims, but I have got both Atek and Stheno wheelsets from members on this forum and they have both been excellent.

Hi frank.youngman
This is the answer I was looking for !
Thank you for these precious advises.
Yes they are rare but not impossible to find.
I have just to be patient.

Cheers from France

In Hamster
In fact we are on the same line, I have 3 pars of 217 and I wanted to change.
Polished aluminium is easier to mantain than anodized.
I'm already dealing a pair in GB
If it doesn't work I will contact this site.
Thank you for this precious contact.
Good ride
