mountain mayhem solo loons.....

Thank you thank you.

Next question. The solo camping area, is that just for tents or do you have a slot and you can put whatever you want on it like the intruder, or in my case, a camper van?

Re:

Just because I like a poor nights sleep, then cycling round and round in a circle for ages, followed by a cold shower....

al-onestare, the solo area is rarely used. You might as well put the camper in the RB area, that way when you stagger off the bike in the dark there is a fair chance an RB member will hand you a beer and a cold, burnt sausage before you head to the van! Some daft loon will probably be up at any given point which is a welcome sign when you've been on the go for many hours.

As far back as 1992 the magazines were saying suspension bikes are better for endurance - wise words! viewtopic.php?f=9&t=341051

Another newbie question, this time about the facilities. I see showers are provided, are toilets as well? Just sorting out the camper van hire and figuring out if I defo need to rent one or can use what's there (the site isn't particularly helpful).

According to the organisers:

Yes, you can have a camper van in the solo area, no problem. Just be aware that there are no electrical hook-ups or effluent disposal available.

There are showers and toilets on site. Also catering and retailers selling a variety of goods, including spares of course.

So, what make of bike will you be riding?

I've lost 5lbs (from the bike) since last year and will be riding my rigid 1993 Kona Explosif. When I get tired I'll switch to my 1995 DBR Axis TT which has suspension - all 40mm of it. If it is muddy I'll leave them in the car, admit I'm prissy about my bikes and ride my modern hard-tail  If it is cold, wet and raining, I'll sit in the gazeebo and admit I'm I wimp
