Re:

our sub thread has pam ayres and graces

et voila!

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments, love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove.
O no, it is an ever fixèd mark
That looks on Dawn's crack and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wand'ring bark,
Whose worth's unknown although his length be taken.
Love's not time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his mayhem riding slowly come,
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom:
If this my team and downhill proved
For Dawn I ride though never loved.

with thanks to Will "get out you're Bard" Shakespeare for the scraps from his table as my starting point(sonnet 116)

Yes it's lunchtime and I am supervising in the form room full of Year 10 Grammar School girls and attempting to remain sane.

I think the wife and kids have decided they are coming with me so everyone had better behave themselves.
The downside is thats more people in the car so less space for bikes, will have to narrow down the selection to just those that work

On the plus side that means we got some colourful lights sorted, kids chose them.
I think they were more bothered about the camping and lights than the bike event really

So moving onto relevant content, here's the word from MM on the course, from the last couple of days:

07-Jun

The 2019 Mountain Mayhem course has been published. It's 9km per lap and has some key features to test the riders.

There's a meandering route through the two coppices on the ridge before a grassy descent down to the next woodland section. This area will known as "WD40 Buttery Smooth"

The WD-40 BIKE section starts off winding along the edge of the woods before that steeper, loamy descent at the end of the woodland before a little grunt to pop out by the lake.

09-Jun

More course insight: After short respite in the open you'll be heading into the CycleSurgery "Tree-age". This section starts with some loose open turns before getting steeper and descending down nice & fast.

10-Jun

You'll have nearly finished the lap when you reach a fun & fast little descent through the woods & another fireroad climb to tick off before the final flurry of the "NiteRider Redwood Return".

The fast run back towards the end of the 9km lap will see you pass right by the end of the avenue of Redwoods. You'll then know it's just the final effort round the perimeter of the campsite for some cheers/heckling from the happy campers before it all starts again.

Who'd be a heckler eh? There's a rumour going around it might have something to do with RB...

Good info Al, thanks for sharing here so the non-FBers can see it more easily and for the ‘call to arms’ for everyone to be on their best heckling form!

I’ve seen the ‘heckling reference’ mentioned a few times on the MM socials and with comments from threes mentioning the great RB atmosphere of previous years so I know we’re going to raise the bar and set the right atmosphere again at the new venue!

Hopefully if it’s done right, and following the organisers’ previous proviso regarding the ‘test scheme’ of the paid-for trackside pitches and our collective and determined efforts to secure ‘our corner’, we can establish the Retrobike contingent as a key part of Mayhem for future years and have this spot pre-allocated - for free - next year. I think it’s essential for the overall fun of the event that RB has a prominent and permanent presence and is formally recognised as part of MM’s history and future alike.

I’m hoping to pick up the Retro Bike tent/Marquee from John which should be ideal alongside the track for a heckling base station.

In the process of hurling light hearted abuse, we do (as you point out) add a lot of value to the event and perhaps we can carve a niche for ourselves in this department for next year
