Moulden Frame

Dirt Disciple
Stumbled on this Moulden fillet brazed frame. I think the original builder was Jim Moulden if what I have read is correct. What do folks know about this frame? I will get some pictures posted soon but wondering if folks had any detail on the builder. Sounds like he was a BC old schooler and was around in the Brodie time frame. Information I have been able to gather online was super limited.

It is a gorgeous roller cam mount frame.....

Hi I have a 99 and its Reynolds tubing, so Moulden is out of Edmonton AB, not Vancouver and my knowledge is thin, but it's estimated that he built under 400 frames throughout his career, I have the chainstay brace and rear brake noodle and Reynolds 853 on my example. The original bike shop still operates to my knowledge but the other posting member who worked for him will be a wealth of info

Here are some pics of the one I have. Really a very interesting frame with tons of unique features to it. Bushpig, any additional information you have I would be interested in knowing. That is really cool that you worked there. Amazing the experiences some of you folks have had in the industry!!!

PS - don't worry it is super loose in the clamp. :)

That is gorgeous!!! And thank you for the additional info. Didn't realize he was making frames that late into the 90s.

Re:Moulden

Apparently, he loved green and the standing joke was you could order a frame in any color as long as it was green....not sure if it's true but.......

Hahah, awesome!!! The paint on the one I have definitely needs to be redone. It is not very quality paint to begin with and then add some sitting around the previous owners place for several years and you can see the impact. I love the seat tube on it though. Nice to know how few of these there are around.

I am guessing this one would be late 80s. I am pretty sure that moving to the wishbone rear stays came from me. This bike would be a couple years earlier than the one from Coquitlam Geoff. Very cool indeed.

Re:

That is awesome info!! So cool you could influence such a lovely frame. Sadly..... it isn't going to make the cut for me. I have a "if it don't fit" rule that I established years ago when I was ending up with far too many pretty things that sat and did only that..... if anyone needs a project hit me up.... :(
