Hi everyone, seeking your oracle advice and expert thoughts in helping shed some light on who may have built this frame. Its actually an excellently constructed frame with complete internal routing. I thought it may be from Olympia but not sure. It is patographed extensively... BB is italian thread

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

R.Mottet (Marseille) were built by Cavallo Marino who was based in Orange in the south of France.

Jean-Louis Picca built the Cavallo Marino frames in the Italianate style and supplied small shops in the south of France. Yours being R. Mottet.
Many thanks for this - very useful. Dont know anything about this builder tbh. Is it worth keeping and restoring or get rid?

Looks like a keeper to me as long as it's your size. Paint looks good. Is it late 80's? Sourcing decals will be near impossible though. You might have to have them reproduced.

Stumbled upon your post after seeing a 'R Mottet Marseille' frameset on eBay today. I have a Mottet frameset fully restored I bought out of the US. It doesn't have the same extensive pantos of yours, but does have the engraved headtube, seat stays and fork crown. I couldn't find any info on Mottet as a brand at the time, but thought it might have been linked to Charlie Mottet (French pro rider in the 80's). In the end I concluded that my frame was built by Patelli (Italian frame builder) as the lugs with intricate cutouts and cast bottom bracket shell were as used by Patelli. I had Mottet decals reproduced in the UK, although the originals were stencilled paint like Mosers have. Another similarity between yours and mine are the treatment of the tubes at the dropouts, although this is not uncommon. Attached a couple of picks of mine before and after. Appreciate if you can contact me if you still have the bike.
