Motta Vintage Frame Help Please!

New to the vintage frame game so go easy on me…

Picked up this Gianni Motta frame from a friend who bought as a project but didn’t get round to building it and wanted to get rid.

Looks great with some lovely details.
Guessing it’s genuine!

Anyone help me with what year and model it’s likely to be?
And approx value as frame and fork?

Horizontal drop outs…. Are these common on road frames of this era?
Assuming will take a regular QR wheel?

Indeed common and will take a standard QR. They take bolts to center the wheel.

Nice frame, could be repainted.

Top range steel Gianni Motta models were the Personal and Personal 2001, both of which had distinctive seat stays & rear dropouts in a style which that frame doesn't have. It doesn't look to be low spec to me though and the styling looks to be mid-1980s to turn of the century yet the decals appear to be far too modern - Gianni Motta decals on the down tubes were usually 'GIANNI MOTTA'.
There is another Motta builder, Roberto - no relation (I think) - who builds some beautiful frames and favours the rear brake bridge that is on that frame.
Could do with closer shots of the seat stay pantographing as it looks remarkably similar to that on Roberto Motta frames (see below). If there's any panto work on the fork crown pictures of that might help.

Thanks so much for your reply. Looks like you are spot on here. That seat stay shape and pantographing is exactly the same on my frame - as is the brake mount / bridge. I just assumed it would be a Gianni Motta bike - I've not come across Roberto Motta in any searches. More research required but at least I have the correct frame builder now!
Now to decide whether to take on the project myself.....

Thanks for this. Lots more to learn re these frames. I think the frame has already been painted. Pearl white i'd say but aside from a small chip on top of the seat-tube, it looks great. Cheers.

And they fit like this, with the bright cap on the outside of the drop out - years ago I lost count of the number I've seen fitted incorrectly.
