Motobecane Tour de France. Vintage 1970’s Eroica Racing Bike
55cms / 57cms
Measurements as follows:-
55cms ST c-to-c (57cms c-to-top) / 57cms horizontal TT
The bike is in lovely condition and so far as I can tell is all original, even down to the original Motobecane bar tape! It is made from lightweight Vitus steel tubing, from back from the days when Vitus were a well regarded steel tubing manufacturer.
First generation Shimano 600 (10 speed), all great working condition
Motobecane (Takagi, Japan) 170mm crhainset
Weinmann brakes
Rigida Wheels
The year is circa 1978/79 and I got it from the original owner, who hasn’t ridden it for the past 26 years and carefully stored it. I have cleaned, checked and recommissioned everything bar the tyres (which are age cracked) and everything works well. This is an excellent, original condition, period-correct, vintage/Eroica-eligible bike, and the only reason I’m moving it on is that it is too large for me.
It comes with a number of spares, as follows:
Stronglight 100 LX crankset, 170mm, with 28/42 rings (for those steep hilly rides)
Listrac Technology period-correct saddle in excellent condition (the saddle that’s on the bike itself is bent)
KKT pedals
NB:
The bike is pictured with its Motobecane (Takagi) chainset on it, however you’ll need to fit a longer chain to use this as the chain has been shortened for use with the Stronglight chainset. Both chainsets are included.
PRICE DROP: £250
Located near Horsham, West Sussex
