That looks very nice indeed - I love the turquoise paint. What's it like to ride?

Cheers Goldie :)

It's a standard colour, the bike's completely untouched at the mo...

It's a sweet ride, although the French braking set-up takes a bit of getting used to...

I'm assuming having the brakes the 'wrong' way round is a driving on the left type thing :)

Nice bike

Dating it... Vitus 888 was a plain gauge tubeset introduced in the early 80's, so I'd say around 81-83 is about right. Look for numbers on the brake calipers, they're sometimes usuallly date stamped.

All my bikes have the brakes like that. It's something I've always done.

i cabled 1 up like it, a while back without realising first couple of stops were intresting but once you get use to it no differance

I have exactly the same bike! Bought it in 1983 from J E James in Chesterfield. Never changed anything on it, now it needs a bit of an overhaul - anyone got ideas where I could get this done?
Cheers in advance

Motobecane

I had something very, very like this as my first racing machine. Vitus 888 tubing, it even had tubular tyres. Took me to second-place in the Essex GHS 10. Super bike.
