I think you are a legend for recycling the kit you find. i only wish I was skillful enough to do the same! :)

On a slight aside; I have noticed a number of threads from the Big Cheese expressing a certain degree of self doubt. I am concerned that you have lost faith with yourself and chosen path as King of the Skips - well I say chin up, walk tall, stand proud and sod the rest of the world. Even if other people who aren't part of the RB community think your habits are odd, we'll always be here to support you! :) ;)

definately money saver, have you ever seen where some of these old tvs etc go to, some remote african or indian land, where they extract the metals etc for reuse, totally not eco friendly conditions to be working in

My Dad was always a bit of a skip monkey and often took me along to the tip and got me to climb in and retrieve the good stuff.
This is why at one point we had 11 working TVs in our house and several stacks of stuff being repaired.

Finding and fixing is a dieing art so my hat's off to you LGF.

Whoever has implied other, then he's an arsehol* so dont be listening to that kind of nonsense.
Everyone here is fine with your 'collections' and recycling into cash
Well done to you i say, and wish you lucky finds in the future.

I think we're all just a tad jealous

You have to take a step back and look at how wasteful our society is when people can live comfortably off peoples rubbish while putting in very little effort to do so .

There are many people living off food found in bins , it's crazy to think that people throw away enough to sustain another human life

An ex mate had a huge tv last time I saw him , it was difficult to watch it was that large , all the furniture point at it , not that they had much choice when the thing dominated a corner of the room ; I don't know what was wrong with the equally as big tv he had before it .

I found this subforum a while ago about living car free , this thread has loads of people who have little more than a bike , laptop , some simple cooking stuff and a sleeping bag

http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.ph ... 01&page=16

At one point I could fit everything I owned into the back of a mk1 escort , I miss those simple times :(

I say rock on , less money spent on useless stuff is more spent on living a nicer life or just not having to work as much .
