Modern rims on retro hubs - sacrilege?

So, just scored a pair of XC717 disc rims, pretty much mint. Would it be sacrilege to lace 'em up to a pair of formula disk hubs with 4-bolt disks, or should I go "modern all the way" with a pair of XTs?

i fitted Suntour xcpro with new Mavic rims. worked a treat. Mean't i could enjoy the hubs and a vintage Suntour setup for a lot longer. Unless you want a garage queen??

If you want retro disc rims I have a lovely set of mavic ones in the dark grey finish I doubt I'll use now.

Other than that, I'd say it's your bike, build it however you want. It's how I roll.
