Modern groupset on a Retro frame - anyone done it

Re:

from 8sp to 10sp no problems, rear was already 130 so very easy. kept the 600 tri cranks/chainrings as they actually weigh less that modern ones (yes i weighed them/ no BB just the cranks and arms) and look much better IMO.

Re:

My '87 Bertoni with late 90's Dura ace mechs and 2001 Campy shifters. Wheels are 2014 Industrial standard hubs with 2014 Sun rims. Brake calipers are Bontrager ,unknown year but I think they look kinda retro modern.

Quite a few here in Stockport if you want to drop round for a brew and a nosey sometime - 1x7 2x9, 1x10, carbon on old steel, singlespeeded classics; all sorts of offensive nonsense has passed through at some point!

Re:

I did my late 50s Carlton and adorned it with DA 8 speed with STIs but used a 70s stronglight compact with the 12-26 DA cassette(came with a williams c/set that had something like 56/45 rings fitted!)

Despite there being no braze ons I used a huret downtube clamp with double bosses for the dt adjuster stops and a lovely chromed band on double cable guide.
Wheels were Mavic Open 4CD on DA 8speed hybrid hubs. What I never fathomed was when the frame was spread as it cam to me with an approximate 128mm OLN.
Really appreciated the dual pivots and modern pads compared to noodly stuff fitted.
Currently running 6x2
