I've got a set of used Crank Bros EggBeater pedals you can have for £5, incl cleats.
They have 6° of knee-saving float with a choice of a 15 or 20° release angle. The pedals are quite worn, but still have plenty of miles left in them. They'll be ideal if you want to try a set before spending more money on a new pair.
